FAQ forNormal delivery

What is pregnancy delivery and what are the different techniques of delivery?

The process of the birth of the baby growing in the womb of the mother is known as pregnancy delivery.

The different techniques for delivery include vaginal or normal delivery, Caesarean delivery, vacuum extraction, and forceps delivery.

Doctors select the technique keeping in mind the condition and health of the baby and the mother.

Normal delivery is done under what circumstances?

  • When the baby weighs less than 2 k.g
  • When the mother doesn’t suffer from any conditions such as diabetes
  • When doctors respond positively to the natural birth of the baby/ answer affirmatively for the natural birth of the baby
  • When the mother doesn’t want any medical intervention in the delivery

Under which circumstances is it better to have the delivery through a C-section?

  • When the mother starts experiencing placenta problems along with pain during the pregnancy
  • When the baby’s position in the uterus is not normal
  • If the mother doesn’t want a normal delivery
  • If the mother is pregnant with twin or triplet babies
  • The mother suffers from problems such as high blood pressure or diabetes
  • If the amniotic fluid is less
  • If the mother has been in labor for more than 12 hours and the baby’s heartbeat is slowing then an emergency C-section can be done.

How long does it take in normal delivery? Can it last for a whole day?

The duration of normal delivery can’t be determined as it is dependent on many factors.

The duration of the normal delivery depends on factors such as the shape of the unborn baby, its condition, the cervical dilation of the mother.

Women who are giving birth for the first time can have longer labor than those who are doing it for the second time.

Usually, it takes about 12-18 hours in normal birth, though it can last longer than that.

If I am having twins, is it possible for me to have a normal delivery?

Yes, of course, provided that the babies are in the right position

Is it possible to have a normal second delivery if the first one was through C-section?

This depends on a lot of factors such as both you and your baby are in good health, the baby is not in the breech position.

Only then can your doctor decide whether normal delivery is possible or not. You can talk to them in detail about this.

What is the way to avoid pain in normal delivery?

From medicines to massage, there are a lot of options available today that can help you avoid normal delivery pain. To know about this in detail you can talk to your doctor.

How would I get to know that when I have to push and how long I have to do it for?

Your doctor will ask you to push after your cervix is fully dilated (almost 10 cms). You might have to push the baby for a few minutes but it can also last up to a few hours.

This also depends on a few factors such as whether the delivery is vaginal or not, the shape and size of the mother’s pelvis, the shape of the baby, the positions of the baby’s head and the labor force.

What is Episiotomy and will I need it during my delivery?

An episiotomy is a cut that is done on the vagina during delivery to make the birthing process easier. If the baby is unable to be born despite the pushing then the doctor can do an episiotomy.

This is very important for both the mother and the baby. Afterward, the doctor stitches up your wound. There are many medicines available that can help ease the pain of the stitches.

What do the doctors do after the normal delivery is done?

After the delivery, the doctors do a health check-up of the baby. After that, they put the baby on your chest to sleep. While you are looking and touching your baby, the doctors saw the wounds that you got during the labor.

Can I breastfeed my baby after delivery?

Yes, you can breastfeed your baby after delivery. It is also very important for the baby.

After having a normal delivery, how long do I have to stay in the hospital?

After having a normal delivery, you might need to stay in the hospital for 2-3 days. Your doctor will decide whether you can do small things such as having food without any assistance or go to the bathroom without the help of a catheter.

With respect to normal delivery, how can Zealthy help me? Do you give facilities for both kinds of deliveries?

Yes, we provide facilities for both C-section and normal delivery.

FAQ forCesarean delivery

What is C-section delivery?

Cesarean delivery is also known as C-section. This is a technique of delivery in which the baby is born through a medical and surgical procedure.

When is C-section delivery done?

Cesarean delivery is done for many reasons, such as:

  • If the lady had her first delivery through c-section
  • If the baby is in Breech position
  • If the baby is too big
  • If the pregnant lady has heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or a kidney disorder
  • If the amniotic fluid is less
  • If the mother has been in labour for longer than 12 hours and the baby’s heartbeat is slowing down
  • If the mother is pregnant with twins or triplets
  • If the mother experiences placenta problems along with labour pain

In all these conditions, normal delivery is dangerous for both the child and the mother.

How should I prepare for Cesarean operation delivery?

To a great extent, the preparation for C-section delivery is similar to preparation for normal delivery.

You will have to prepare a bag for the hospital and make a post-birth plan for the baby. Your doctor will also discuss pain management options with you before time.

If it is a scheduled c-section, then you will be prohibited from eating the night before the operation. Usually, before beginning the treatment, your doctor asks you to sign a consent form.

Can I eat something before the surgery?

No. 8 hours before the surgery, the doctors will strictly prohibit you from eating anything.

What will happen during the C-section delivery?

During the surgery, first, you will be prepared medically, hydrated with IV Fluid, and cleaned with an antiseptic solution.

In special circumstances, an epidural or spinal anaesthetic can be given, although, in normal circumstances, general anaesthesia will be given.

During the process, the doctors put a horizontal cut between your abdomen and uterus and cuts the umbilical cord after taking the baby out.

After this, your baby’s health checkup is done, your placenta is removed, and the incisions on your uterine and abdominal incisions are stitched up.

Would I be conscious during the C-section?

If it is a planned Cesarean delivery, then you will be given an epidural or spinal anaesthesia, and you will be conscious during the operation.

But in case of an emergency Cesarean delivery, the mother can be given general anaesthesia, in which case you won’t be conscious. This is done to make the C-section quicker and safer.

How much time does a cesarean operation delivery take?

It’s different for different women. The birth of the baby through Cesarean delivery takes 15-20 minutes, apart from this, the entire process of surgery takes 45 minutes.

Will my baby be with me after the Cesarean delivery process is completed?

To a great extent, this depends on hospital policies. Although usually, you can see your baby after its birth, during this time the hospital staff are checking the heartbeat of your baby along with its colour, temperature.

After this, the baby is kept under observation in the recovery room for many hours.

Despite this, you can hold your baby in your arms, try to breastfeed it, and enjoy skin-to-skin contact with it.

Can I breastfeed after getting a C-section delivery?

Breastfeeding after Cesarean delivery is very much like breastfeeding after normal delivery. You can do it provided both you and your baby are healthy.

How long will the recovery take after the C-section delivery?

Although this depends on your health and condition, it takes longer to recover from a Cesarean operation delivery as compared to a normal one.

On average, it can take between 4-6 weeks to recover from a Cesarean delivery.

Is there any risk in C-section delivery?

Cesarean delivery is a big surgery, it has a few complications. You doctor will tell you about the risks and their treatment in detail.

How can Zealthy help me in the context of C-section delivery? Do you provide services for both types of delivery?

Yes, along with C-section we provide facilities for all types of deliveries. What is IUI treatment?

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is an advanced reproductive technology used for couples who are unable to conceive naturally. During IUI treatment, the sperms are introduced directly into the female's uterus using a thin and flexible catheter tube. The process of inseminations takes only 2 to 3 minutes.

Where and how long before the IUI treatment is the sperm collected?

The sperm is collected, washed and prepared prior to the insemination process. The semen is collected in a sterile container by masturbation after 3-5 days of abstinence. The person can do it at their home or in private at the clinic's collection room. If the semen is collected at home, it needs to be submitted to the lab within one hour of collection for storage. In the lab, the sperms are then separated from other parts of semen (sperm wash). Sperm wash may take up to 30-40 minutes. The best sperm is then selected by your doctor and is introduced into the woman's uterus.

Can IUI treatment help in conceiving?

Yes, IUI treatment is a process that helps infertile couples in conceiving. In this process, sperm is artificially introduced to the women's uterus after ovulation for maximum chances of fertilization and successful pregnancy.

Is IUI different from IVF treatment?

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) and In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) are two different techniques for infertility treatment. During IUI, the male sperm is artificially introduced into the woman's uterus, whereas, in IVF, the eggs and sperm are fertilized in a laboratory, and the fertilized embryo is then transferred into the woman's uterus.

What is the success rate of conceiving through IUI?

The success of the IUI treatment depends upon your condition. In general, the success rate of natural cycle IUI is 6-10% and IUI with ovulation medication, it is 20-30%.

Is IUI treatment painful?

IUI treatment is painless in most cases of IUI treatment. After the process is complete, you might feel little cramps due to ovulation and not the treatment.

Is it possible to have twins through IUI treatment?

Yes, there is a 10-15% chance of conceiving twins with IUI treatment.

How long before the IUI treatment should a couple stop having sex?

This depends on your personal situation. But it is recommended to not have sex at least for 72 hours before to the procedure. If the male sperm count is low, it is advised to stop having sex and masturbation 4-5 days before the sperm collection.

What is the best time to get IUI treatment?

Your doctor will schedule an ultrasound on cycle days 11-14, to determine if a mature follicle has developed. Afterward, HCG is given which will cause ovulation to occur within 36-44 hours. Your doctor will then schedule the insemination. If two inseminations are done per cycle, then there can be a gap of 24 hours between them.

What is sperm wash?

Sperm wash is also known as sperm preparation. During this process, healthy sperms are separated from other semen fluids in a laboratory. The most viable sperm is then used for IVF or IUI treatment.

How long do I have to lay down after the insemination procedure?

Your doctor might advise you to lay down for 15 to 20 minutes after the insemination.

Can I live normally after the IUI procedure?

You can certainly go back to your normal routine without any worries after an IUI treatment. However, some women avoid doing aerobic exercises and lifting heavy objects to increase the chances of pregnancy.

How long after the IUI process does implantation take place?

After insemination, implantation happens within 6-12 days. Your doctor will do a pregnancy test after 12-14 days of insemination to confirm the pregnancy.

How long after the IUI treatment, should I get a pregnancy test?

Two weeks after the insemination, is considered an ideal time to get a pregnancy test.

Does IUI treatment help in the case of blocked fallopian tubes?

Due to blocked fallopian tubes, the sperm cannot reach the eggs to fertilize them. In this situation, IVF treatment is advised.

Is it possible to conceive after the first cycle of IUI treatment?

Most infertility specialists recommend two inseminations back to back in one IUI cycle to increase the chances of success.

Does IUI treatment involve risks?

The IUI treatment is very safe and generally does not involve any risk. You may experience cramps and notice light spotting, but that is due to ovulation and not the treatment.

Can the child’s gender be found out through the IUI treatment procedure?

According to Pre-Conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PCPNDT) 1994, finding out a child’s gender before birth is a crime in india. We do not support any such techniques.

How does Zealthy help in the IUI treatment process?

It is crucial to find a qualified and experienced doctor for IUI treatment. Zealthy helps you in finding the best nearby fertility doctors and centers for your treatment at the right price. You can talk to our experts at 636-636-3030 for more information on IUI treatment packages in india.
